If our ECG shows changes of angina (heart not geting an adequate blood supply) after the workload, meaning that we are suffering from ischemic heart disease, the test is known to be a Positive Test
If there are no signs of ischemic heart disease, the heartget enough blood supply even after moderate or high workload, the TMT test is known as the Negative Test.
What are the risks involved in Treadmill Test? – TMT Overview
In extreme cases, there is only a 1% chance of exacerbation of angina, breathlessness, arrhythmia, or rarest – death. The test should only be carried out in presence of trained technicians or doctors.
What are the chances of a false positive or false negative?
The specificity of TMT ranges from 50% to 74% and the sensitivity of the Treadmill Test ranges from 73% to 90%.
